Experience
I moved across the country, from my small town in Maine, to attend Pomona College in California. I am majoring in science, technology, and society. I recently took a short break from college so that I could join a nonprofit organization, where I work in an elementary school. I am currently running an afterschool program where I teach elementary students simple science, as well as how to play chess. I hope to inspire my students to love chess as much as I did when I was their age.I have two dreams that I am pursuing. One of them is to be a school teacher, and the other is to become a writer for a scientific journal. Ideally, I want to find a way to combine the two and work in a field that allows me to do both simultaneously. Aside from teaching, I have two years' experience working with young learners as a curator in a local children's museum. In addition, I have experience teaching high school chemistry, pre-calculus, economics, statistics, and college entrance exam preparation.I have an aptitude for learning languages, and I have spent five years studying Spanish. I recently started learning how to speak Russian as well. My other hobbies include traveling, being outdoors, and learning interesting scientific facts. Along with Spanish, I love teaching anything related to science.
